Connection Management

PhanTerm provides a powerful connection list, allowing you to easily manage and quickly locate servers, even when dealing with hundreds of them.

When creating or editing a connection, you can configure the following management properties alongside the basic connection details:

  • Name: Assign a friendly alias to your connection.
  • Group: Enter a custom string. Hosts with the same group name will be automatically aggregated and sorted in the connection list. If left empty, the host is placed in the Ungrouped group.
  • Tags: You can add multiple tags to a host (e.g., web, db, production). These will display as dim badges like [web] [db] in the connection list.

In the Connection List interface:

  • Press / to trigger the global search filter.
  • The search simultaneously matches the host’s name, address, user, group, and tags.
  • Use the arrow keys or j/k to navigate quickly through the filtered results. Even if the list is extremely long, the selected host will always remain within the visible view.

For managing multiple hosts, use the bulk operation mode:

  1. Press V to enter Bulk Selection Mode.
  2. Use the Space key to select the current row, or press a to select all visible connections.
  3. Press d and confirm to bulk delete the selected connections.
  4. Press Esc at any time to exit this mode.
